Account and Data Deletion Policy

1. Purpose and Scope
This Account and Data Deletion Policy (“Policy”) describes how we process requests to delete your account and to delete or anonymize your personal data in connection with the Kalp Bağım application and related services.
Under the KVKK and applicable law, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data or closure of your account. This Policy explains how to submit requests, what data will be deleted, and how long the process takes.
2. Account Deletion Request
To permanently close your account, you may use one of the following methods:
In-app: Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account and submit the request. A confirmation screen will inform you that the action is irreversible.
By email: Send an email to the support address shown on our website or in the app’s Contact section with the subject “Account deletion request” and state the email address registered to your account.
An account deletion request also constitutes a request to delete or anonymize all personal data associated with your account; you do not need to submit a separate “data deletion” request.
3. Data-Only Deletion Request
If you wish to have only certain personal data deleted or processing stopped without closing your account, you may submit this request through the same channels (in-app support or email).
Specifying which categories of data you want deleted (e.g. profile information, usage data, preferences) helps us process the request faster. The request will be handled in line with KVKK Article 11.
A data deletion request does not close the account; your account remains open but the specified data is deleted or anonymized.
4. Data That Is Deleted or Anonymized
When an account or data deletion request is approved, we process the following categories:
Account information: Email, username, password (stored in encrypted form), registration date and account preferences are deleted.
Profile and personalization data: Name, relationship status, reminder preferences and other information you entered in the app are deleted.
Usage data: Device information, session logs and usage data that can be linked to you are deleted or anonymized.
Communication history: Records of your support requests may be retained until the end of the statutory retention period, after which they are deleted.
5. Data That May Be Retained for Legal Reasons
In the following cases, some of your data may be retained for specified periods as required by law:
Obligations regarding retention of tax, commercial books and records.
Records that may serve as evidence in disputes or in response to official authority requests.
Such data is kept only for the legally required period with restricted access and is deleted or anonymized when that period ends.
6. Anonymous and Statistical Data
Data that has been anonymized so that it can no longer identify you personally, and is used for service improvement and statistical analysis, is not deleted. This data (e.g. aggregate usage statistics) is no longer considered personal data.
Anonymous data may be used indefinitely by Kalp Bağım to improve overall service quality.
7. Processing Time
Account and data deletion requests are completed within 30 (thirty) days at the latest, in accordance with KVKK Article 13. This period may be extended by up to a further 30 days where necessary, with reasons given.
When the process is complete, you will be informed via the channel you used to submit the request (email or in-app notification).
8. Identity Verification
We may ask you to verify your identity so that we can confirm the account or data deletion request is made by the account holder. For example, submitting the request from your registered email address or while logged into the app may be sufficient.
If additional verification is needed, we will inform you by email or in the app. The request may be put on hold until verification is complete.
9. Cancelling Your Request
If you change your mind after submitting an account deletion request and before the process is complete, you may write to us through the same channel stating that you wish to cancel your account deletion request. If we find that the request has not yet been processed, it will be cancelled; otherwise we will inform you.
10. Contact
You may submit account or data deletion requests to the email address provided in the Contact or Support section of our website or within the app. Your requests will be answered as soon as possible and in line with the KVKK.
